Villaverde is just north of La Oliva, on the road between La Oliva and Corralejo (the main British tourist resort in the north of the island). The village is still quite small but new houses are regularly constructed. Despite its size, the village does have plenty of amenities with several restaurants, a supermarket, a local village store, a bakery and a couple of bars. In addition there is a furniture store, a couple of Ferreterias (local DIY stores) and a cafe / take-away selling pizza's. There is also a regular bus between either Corralejo or El Cotillo on the west coast that has some lovely beaches just to the north of it and within walking distance of the bus stop. |

Restaurants Casa Marcos - The nearest restaurant to the villa, about a 5 minute stroll down the hill. Unless you eat early, it's advisable to book as the place gets quite busy. The food is lovely and quite unique, it's described (I think) as 'Rural Canarian'. You order larger than usual tapas style dishes from the blackboard. We Love it there and don't know anyone who doesn't. Casa Marcos The menu at Casa Marcos (it changes regularly El Rancho A local restaurant towards the south of the village. A 10-15 minute walk. |
The Bakery About 400 metres down the road and open from early morning until late evening (circa 20:30) every day of the week except on Sunday when it closes at 15:00. Serves everything you would expect from a local bakery in the Canaries and one thing you wouldn't :- Pasties - Try one ! The nearest bar to the villa (about 400 metres). It's a standard Spanish bar, the drinks are cheap and the locals are friendly. You need to speak Spanish though, or at least know the word for beer (cerveza) ! |
