There are many lovely beaches on the island, many of which are safe for swimming etc... Be careful along the west coast of the island though as the majority of the beaches here have strong undercurrents making them not suitable for swimming. The exception being the nice sandy beaches just to the north of El Cotillo, about a 15 minute drive from the villa heading west. This is where we tend to head for a few hours in the sand. |

Beaches The area just to the north of El Cotillo, there are several sandy coves to choose from stretching from El Cotillo to the lighthouse in the distance to the north and beyond. There are a few photos of the area below. The main and most popular beach north on Cotillo Cotillo Beach in August - as busy as it gets Cotillo Beach only this time in June Still the same beach and again..... This is 'Torinos Bar', it's situated right on the beach and is nice to head for a snack in the sun. Still in the same area, this beach is further north than the last one, just past the lighthouse. another shot of the same beach one of the beaches in Caleta de Fustes, one of the main British tourist venues on the island. If it's cloudy around the villa, it can often be lovely and sunny here and usuall a couple of degrees warmer too. The next two beaches are down at the south of the island along the east coast to the north of Morro del Jable. The beaches run for miles and miles at the south of the island, and if you feel like a day out touring then are worth a stop on the way. The same beach as above but pointing the camera the other way |
Beaches Corralejo - While there are some sandy beaches in the centre of town, there is an area of sand dunes just to the south of the town on the east cost. The first beaches are popular with windsurfers and kite surfers, however once the sand dunes start properly, a short walk across them finds some nice sandy beaches . The same beach on a cloudy, windy day in January. Again the same beach on the same day and again..... Further south, one of the beaches in the sand dunes The road though the dunes Los Molinos : a small village on the west coast, not a lot there and be aware of the stron currents, not a place to go swimming Los Molinos agai The black sand beach at Ajuy, about half way down the west coast. There is a path along the coast (from where this photo was taken) that has nice views of the cliffs and some caves at the end Further along the path at Ajuy again at Ajuy |
